Modern GBQ exists so that everyone in a building project, from the homeowner to the supplier, works from the same honest numbers.
Our story
Sam Grace is an architect who has worked in construction since 1990, in Egypt, the UAE and, since 1998, Australia. He has worked as an estimator, project manager and site inspector, and from 2003 to 2013 he held an NSW building licence and ran his own building company.
Over those years he saw the same problem again and again: homeowners could not tell what a fair price was, builders spent days pricing loose enquiries, and suppliers reached buyers only after the budget was set.
In 2013 he built the first version of Grace Building Quote around his own estimating method. It was shown at the Sydney Home Show in 2014. In 2026 it was rebuilt from the ground up as Modern GBQ, with the Grace Quote app.
